A few weeks ago Thomas and I did a two-day canoe trip down the Kangaroo Valley - just south of Sydney. We paddled 20 kms - yes me! - camping overnight on the banks of the river.
We saw many beautiful birds, some wallabies and a very fat wombat. The scenery grew more beautiful and more rugged the further along the river we travelled. During the first day we had strong headwinds, which made paddling a bit tough. On the second day we struck camp very early to take advantage of the very still morning. It was quite something to slip through the waters at 7.00 am with nothing other than birdsong keeping us company.
