Valance shopping

I decided our queen size bed needed a new valance when even Thomas noticed how daggy the old one was. The trouble with a valance is that once it's on a bed, it's a whole lot of effort to change it - so we seemed to live with the same one for quite a while (hate to admit that, but it's true).

Two Saturdays ago I went to Target at the Belconnen centre to check out their valances - it's an old-fashioned word and I doubt that many people use it any more. Maybe there's a better name that I don't know about?

I searched for a long time through the aisles of quilts and covers and eventually found three valances right at the top of a shelf - unfortunately not the colour I wanted and quite expensive at about $50 for my size.

Back home that day I searched the net for valances and discovered quite a few for sale at a very low price - but I've been caught before with cheap products so thought I'd go upmarket and settled for one from Peter's of Kensington.

I've bought kitchenware from Peter's previously and know that their service and quality is good. I placed and paid for the order and received my valance by Wednesday morning, which I think is good service. Because it was a big box, I had to pick it up from the Belconnen Business Centre rather than the Charnwood Post office, but I don't mind that at all because they're open early in the morning so we can pick up parcels on the way to work.

All in all a good experience and this morning Thomas helped me to put on the new valance (who knows how long before it gets washed or replaced - but that's another story).
